Dr. Brent Neufeld graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 1997. He did an externship at the VitreoRetinal Foundation in Memphis, TN which focuses on ocular disease and neuro-optometry.
Prior to coming to Calgary, Dr. Neufeld practiced in a large group practice in British Columbia and then rural Alberta. During his time in B.C., he provided optometric services to a medium and maximum security prison. Dr. Neufeld has volunteered several times on third world eye projects where he, along with a team of other optometrists and volunteers, provided free eye care services, including eyeglasses. (Your eyeglass donations do make a difference and they do make it to individuals who would benefit from them).
Dr. Brent Neufeld also served on the Alberta Association of Optometrists council. His optometric passion for vision therapy (optometry's best kept secret) led him to open Eye Gallery so he could incorporate this much needed service into a primary care office in Calgary. In the summer of 2010, Dr. Neufeld moved his vision therapy services out of Eye Gallery and into Alberta's first vision therapy only office, Calgary Vision Therapy. This move was necessary to provide larger amounts of vision therapy services to individuals in Southern Alberta.
In 2007 Dr. Neufeld's family moved from Garrison woods area into their home in Auburn Bay. Since this time he has continued to still practice out of Eye Gallery for his regular routine eye health and visual evaluations, but now looks forward to providing these services closer to home in Auburn Bay. Dr. Neufeld looks forward to continuing the relationships he has developed with his patients over the past number of years and meeting the new patients that he will be able to take on in the future in his new Auburn Bay office.
Dr. Neufeld is certified to treat and manage glaucoma. Dr. Neufeld is a member of the Alberta Optometrists Association, Alberta College of Optometry, Calgary Society of Optometry, Optometric Extension Program and College of Vision and Development.
Dr. Neufeld enjoys playing most sports (especially hockey) and playing his piano or guitar. For several years now Dr. Neufeld has enjoyed co-coaching Trinity Christian School's K-6 hockey team practices. Time outside work is enjoyed with his wife and two daughters.
